Day 11 - Lehava - Elizabeth
Today the boys and girls of the superior side (Lehava) split up to explore the city of Tzfat through different and new perspectives. The city was beautiful, scaling the mountains and draped in whites and light blues. Tzvat really lived up to its namesake of being the “City of Air”. Our first stop was the mikvah where we met with Sara who explained the ritual process of going to the mikvah and taught us a lovely song about the search for G-d in the world. We explored the mikvah and I found it surprising how going to the mikvah can beneficially impact a woman’s relationship with themselves and their loved ones.
We then enjoyed some time to have lunch at the small, family owned food shops and navigated the art market and dainty jewellery shops. Our beloved tour guide Daniel took us up what seemed like millions of stairs that took us through Tzfat and told us about how the city is a hub of Jewish mysticism (Kabbalah) and Chasidut. I loved learning about how even the smallest things can be elevated if you add Hashem into your life. The calm nature of the people around us, and the beautiful sunset over Har Meron also created an amazing spiritual atmosphere.
Our favourite parts of the day were when we baked challah in a 500 year old oven and used meditation to channel ourselves through painting. All in all, our day in Tzfat was very fun and an incredible experience.
